Howard S. Wright Selected to Deliver Vern Miller Civic Center Renovations

SALEM, ORE. – Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, has been selected to deliver exterior and interior renovations to the Salem Civic Center/City Hall in Salem, Oregon to create a 21st century workplace for the Mayor and City Managers offices, City Council Chambers, Municipal Courts and Planning and Purchasing departments.
Howard S. Wright will make $40 million in substantial renovations to the 1970 Civic Center featuring a seismic retrofit and structural upgrades. Additionally, the project team will deliver a new parking garage and extensive interior renovations.

Howard S. Wright, has extensive experience in delivering building renovations across Oregon including upgrades to the Salem Public Library which featured a seismic retrofit and interior renovations, the reconstruction and renovation the Portland Building and renovations to the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building. Additionally, the company recently completed the new Salem Public Works Operations Building which features a 30,000-square-foot facility that consolidates four different office locations into one unified building and the Salem Public Library renovations which consisted of a structural seismic retrofit
Howard S. Wright will work with Hacker Architects and CBTWO Architects to complete the Vern Miller Civic Center renovations. The company has been contracted for design and preconstruction activities with the remainder of the full award contracted in Q2 2025. Construction will begin Fall 2025 with an expected completion in Spring 2027.
