Whatcom Village East Campus Modernization

Part of a 72-acre modernization development for a technology campus, the project encompasses 4 million square feet of new construction consisting of seven new office buildings and a 6,500-stall subterranean parking garage.

The Whatcom Village project includes four buildings of office space and a range of high-end amenities. These include food hall areas with 32 unique dining venues, commercial kitchens in two buildings and a gastropub accessible to the public. Each building boasts its own outdoor terrace, multipurpose meeting rooms conducive to collaboration, centralized hubs and gathering spaces, conference rooms, as well as bike storage and locker facilities.

The 3.2 million square feet East Campus Garage has four levels and features a secure service corridor that connects each building to central shared facilities within the Garage, including a 28,000-square-foot central catering kitchen and a loading dock. All shipments to and from the buildings are managed via autonomous electric vehicles, thus enabling a vehicle-free pedestrian experience on the surface.

Four iconic pavilion-like mass timber parking portals with integrated landscape and environmental graphics provide additional access points to the campus. These vertical connections bring daylight below ground, and in turn provide a biophilic experience for those arriving by car.

The project is on track to meet LEED Platinum, ILFI Zero Carbon and Salmon Safe certifications.
