Balfour Beatty Breaks Ground on The Kenny Center

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – Balfour Beatty, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Baltimore District (USACE) and the National Security Agency (NSA) celebrates the groundbreaking of The Kenny Center during a ceremony on June 5. The ceremony marks the beginning of construction of USACE’s East Campus Building #4 in Fort Meade, Maryland which is named after the late Minnie M. Kenny, former NSA employee, cryptanalyst, educator and equal opportunity activist.

Balfour Beatty was awarded a $698 million fixed-price-award-fee, Dept. of Defense contract to deliver an approximately 854,000-gross-square-foot operational mission building and multi-level, modular parking structure for more than 3,000 parking spaces. The project also features connector bridges to adjacent East Campus buildings, open office areas with large flexible floor plates, food service areas and additional retail spaces and further expansion of the East Campus utility network.

Balfour Beatty is working with its design-build team comprised of HDR, JCM Associates, J.E. Richards and exp Federal to deliver The Kenny Center which is scheduled for completion in 2026.
