CARY, NC –  Balfour Beatty recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the Town of Cary’s new Downtown Cary Park at a local ceremony with citizens and community leaders of Cary, North Carolina. The ceremony marks the beginning of construction and development of the community-led project which is coming to life after a 20-year vision of the Town’s plans to revitalize and propel future economic growth in the heart of downtown Cary.

Balfour Beatty was awarded a contract to transform the now, one-acre park into seven acres that will include spaces for active performances/concerts, farmers’ markets, interactive public art installations, food and beverage facilities, children’s play areas, and a dog-friendly bar.  Additional key features include botanical gardens showcasing native plants and elevated bridges that overlook the parking area. Balfour Beatty also plans to incorporate thoughtful, sustainable elements such as implementing green stormwater landscaping, leveraging non-toxic materials, and recycled wood from the construction site to deliver the new park.

Downtown Cary Park was created for the citizens by the citizens and will serve as a catalyst for growth for years to come.”
