Balfour Beatty Awarded Two Merit Awards by NCDOA State Building Commission for UNCW’s Student Village Project

WILMINGTON, NC - Balfour Beatty’s delivery of University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s (UNCW) Student Village project receives Excellence in Construction and Excellence in Implementation awards from North Carolina Department of Administration’s (NCDOA State Building Commission.

As part of the state entity’s Certificate of Merit Award Program, the awards recognize companies that demonstrate the competencies and efforts necessary to realize excellence in the design and construction of projects for the State of North Carolina.

UNCW’s Student Village is a public-private partnership (P3) project delivered by Balfour Beatty’s Campus Solutions and US Buildings operations. The two-phased project features four resident halls, a total of 1,814 student beds, a student success center on the 409,722-square-foot development, a Port City Java coffee shop and convenience store. 

Clark Nexsen Architecture and Engineering served as the design partner and Collegiate Housing Foundation, a national non-profit entity, is the project’s residential facility owner through an issuance of project-based, tax-exempt debt financing.
