Women not only belong in construction—we thrive there! On October 28, teammates from across the Mid-Atlantic are attending the 16th Annual Women in Construction (WIC) Conference in Washington, D.C. The leadership and networking conference, themed “Empowering the Next Generation,” unites professionals from across all industry disciplines with the goal of supporting and advancing the careers of women in the building industry.

Balfour Beatty’s intentional focus on the advancement of women in construction shines through our Mid-Atlantic teammates, the projects they build, and the partnerships they create. Learn how several of our women in the Mid-Atlantic are making vital contributions to our company and industry and paving the way for a more diverse and inclusive future:

“Occasionally a woman engineer will share that seeing me in my position is proof that she can aspire to be a leader in our organization – being reminded that others are looking to me as an example is both humbling and inspiring for me.” Rebecca Nordby, Vice President, Operations

“Construction helped me discover my true passion and life’s calling – mentoring diverse team members and minority- and women-owned small businesses.” Layli Pietri, Minority Business Development Director

“I am excited to help grow the Mid-Atlantic Special Projects Group (SPG) and have big plans for the future to expand the team and increase revenue! Our SPG office staff is currently 50% women; I am honored to lead this talented group and be a mentor to other women in the company.” Michelle Clark, Project Executive
