At Balfour Beatty, our mission is to cultivate a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace where everyone's voice matters. In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Balfour emphasizes and remembers the impact these communities have had on our industry and the U.S. 

During this annual celebration, we provide platforms and activities for our AAPI teammates to share their experiences and facilitate critical conversations about this community and their invaluable contributions to our country and industry. 

In celebration and acknowledgment of AAPI Heritage Month, our teams across the nation will share educational resources, engage in honest conversations and participate in outreach events that support Balfour Beatty’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. 

Balfour Beatty is also utilizing the month-long celebration to formally introduce our newest employee affinity group, REGAL (Reinforcing, Educating, and Guiding Asian Leaders). The group aims to promote advocacy and representation for Balfour Beatty's AAPI employees, strengthen cultural understanding and facilitate conversations that advance inclusivity within our company and industry.

The Importance of AAPI Heritage Month

According to a Build California study, AAPI individuals comprise only 1.5% of the construction industry workforce, making it one of the more underrepresented ethnicities. One of REGAL’s goals is to educate and eliminate stereotypes towards AAPI members within our industry, thereby ensuring a more diverse and robust talent pipeline.

Enhancing the diversity at Balfour Beatty serves to create more ideas and perspectives that contribute to our success.”

Beyond AAPI Heritage Month, REGAL will continue to support and advance the necessary actions and conversations to fuel Balfour Beatty's progress along our diversity, equity, and inclusion journey.
