DALLAS, TX – In observance of National Arbor Day, Balfour Beatty’s US operations will donate six thousand dollars to benefit Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program. Additionally, the company will plant 4,500 trees, representing one tree per team member, furthering the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability within its national footprint.

The Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program serves communities across the nation and the globe, providing replacement and recovery tree services for residents and communities that have suffered damage and loss as a result of major disasters. Balfour Beatty’s donation will support six local communities, one thousand dollars per community, in honor of the six main geographic areas where the company’s Building and Civils teams operate.

As a company whose employees, families, clients, and industry partners have been directly impacted by forest fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes, Balfour Beaty’s support of the Community Tree program is the most impactful way to extend a helping hand to recovery efforts in communities across the nation.

“In celebrating Arbor Day, our company is excited to support the Arbor Day Foundation and their efforts to plant trees where they’re needed most,” said Keith McCoy, senior vice president of safety of Balfour Beatty’s US operations. “Balfour Beatty prides itself on being a responsible, sustainable business to further reduce our environmental footprint and provide a more positive, sustainable impact where we work. We commend our team members for making sustainability a commitment in their communities and building new futures alongside the Arbor Day Foundation.”

As a part of the company’s 2021 sustainability goals, Balfour Beatty has committed to planting one tree for each employee across the nation by the end of the year. Local operating teams will work with their local forestry service to arrange for planting based on the best timing and season for each location.
