Jimmy DeLoach Parkway

Balfour Beatty is the prime contractor responsible for delivery of the four-mile Jimmy DeLoach Parkway extension that will improve travel time and accommodate increasing truck traffic to and from the Port of Savannah. The project includes replacing the intersection of Jimmy DeLoach Parkway with US 80/SR 17/SR 26 with a grade-separated interchange and building a new bridge over US 80. The scope also includes the widening of Jimmy DeLoach Parkway from the I-16/SR 17 interchange to Pine Barren Road, this includes widening one bridge and constructing another. In addition, two new roundabouts at the I-16 intersection are being constructed to alleviate future traffic congestion.

Scheduled for completion in May 2022, the contract includes six bridges, 900,000 cubic yards of earthwork, concrete and asphalt paving, drainage, utilities, 10 CIP box culverts, flatwork, guardrail and lighting.

The project is part of the GDOT’s 10-year Major Mobility Investment Program, which maintains existing roadways and bridges and addresses congestion along key freight and mobility corridors to prepare for increasing freight traffic.
