1000 Maine

Balfour Beatty provided construction services for 1000 Maine, the District’s first waterfront, trophy-class office building. The building, an 11-story, 274,132-square-foot facility on the historic Washington Channel, has an impressive three-story main lobby/atrium featuring a Nero Marquina (black marble) wall. 1000 Maine features 23,000-square-foot flexible floor plates with 10-foot finished ceilings, natural light, a 3,500-square-foot spa quality fitness center, and rooftop terrace with waterfront and D.C. skyline views. The project was built over an existing garage structure built in an earlier phase.

The 1000 Maine office building boasts unique and challenging construction components including terra cotta accent projections on the curtainwall façade (which also includes glass and aluminum elements), a sawtooth stone wall in the lobby, and an isolation concrete slab in the second-floor fitness center. The project is certified LEED Gold and includes such energy efficient features as a Dedicated Outside Air System (DOAS) HVAC system.

1000 Maine is part of the new $2.5B, over three-million-square-feet, mixed-use development in D.C. from Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, The Wharf. This vibrant waterfront neighborhood includes residences, retail, hotels, restaurants, offices, entertainment and recreation.
