Good News is Worth Sharing

HOUSTON – August 7, 2023 – Balfour Beatty has been awarded a contract to widen Business U.S. Highway (BU) 90U from Interstate Highway 610 (I-610) to the east of Mesa Road on behalf of Texas Department of Transportation’s Houston District. Once complete, the approximately $62.5 million improvement project will ease traffic congestion and enhance safety and storm drainage in the northeast Houston area.

The Balfour Beatty team will deliver improvements to the existing four-lane, undivided rural roadway including widening the travel lanes from 11 feet to 12 feet in each direction and adding an additional 14-foot travel lane in each direction. The team will also construct a 16-foot continuous center turn lane and continuous sidewalks in each direction throughout the project limits.

Balfour Beatty has partnered with TxDOT’s Houston District to deliver complex highway and bridge projects in Texas including the Interstate Highway (IH) 10 Elysian Viaduct Bridge, IH 45 at IH 10, IH 10 at Studemont and IH 10 at Washington.
