Balfour Beatty Promotes Aviation Expert Trent Johnson to Vice President in the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Balfour Beatty promotes Trent Johnson to vice president of operations in the Carolinas. In his new role, Trent will lead and grow the company’s local aviation sector across North and South Carolina, building on his track record as a trusted leader and client partner on complex aviation programs.

Trent brings 19 years of experience in the construction industry, including more than 12 and a half years with Balfour Beatty. During his tenure with the company, he has contributed to the successful delivery of 22 aviation projects, ranging from targeted renovations to complex, multi-phase programs. His experience and leadership have been instrumental in strengthening Balfour Beatty’s aviation presence in North Carolina, particularly through his work at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Albert J. Ellis Airport in Onslow County.

In his new position, Johnson will continue to support Balfour Beatty’s established aviation clients at RDU and Albert J. Ellis Airport while expanding the company’s presence at additional regional and international airports throughout the Carolinas. His focus remains on supporting project teams as they navigate the demands of active airport environments, maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, operational continuity and stakeholder coordination.

Throughout his career at Balfour Beatty, Trent has been recognized for his steady leadership style and collaborative approach. By fostering strong relationships with clients, trade partners and project stakeholders, he has helped ensure the delivery of projects that meet the unique operational needs of aviation environments while aligning with long-term regional growth and infrastructure priorities.

Trent holds a degree in Construction Engineering Management from North Carolina State University. He is also an active supporter of the local Make-A-Wish Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community and helping make a positive impact on the lives of children and families.
