PITTSBORO, N.C. – Balfour Beatty celebrates the opening of Chatham County’s new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Pittsboro, North Carolina.  A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Oct. 27 to commemorate the completion and grand opening of the new EOC which was attended by local officials, Balfour Beatty teammates and community partners.

Balfour Beatty provided construction manager at-risk services to deliver the County’s 37,435-square-foot EOC. The facility features administrative and staff spaces including the County’s Emergency Management and Communications administration, Emergency Operations Center, Communications operations, training and technology spaces and common spaces for staff and building support. Additionally, a 12,000-square-foot facility is a pre-engineered metal ancillary building that houses the County’s emergency support materials.

“Balfour Beatty is honored to deliver a new facility for Chatham County’s municipalities and partner agencies to coordinate enhanced disaster response and recovery efforts,” said Brad Arthur, Balfour Beatty general superintendent in North Carolina. “I commend our project teammates for their ongoing collaboration with our industry partners and the County to successfully construct a centralized building that provides up-to-date technology for safe response operations and allows sufficient space for future expansion.”
