This 146,000-square-foot student housing project includes the design and construction of a 408-bed freshman residence hall in the South Village area to meet UNC Charlotte's increasing enrollment and to fulfill the need for on-campus housing. Rooms are configured in a suitestyle design, and each floor includes a classroom, laundry room, lounge/study areas, multi-purpose rooms and wireless internet access in the common areas. The building exterior is brick and precast concrete, and the design imparts a sense of permanence and tradition in its exterior appearance and in a manner consistent with recently designed campus buildings in the vicinity. Laurel Hall was designed and constructed to achieve Green Globe goals.
