In 2019, Balfour Beatty was awarded a $130 million contract to construct The Avocet Tower for Stonebridge Associates – a new center for convienience, style, lifestyle and culture.

Avocet Tower will feature 370,000 square feet of premiere office space, a two-story lobby, as well as an attached 220-room hotel in the heart of downtown. The structure will be 23-stories above-grade. A fully-landscaped, 10,000-square-foot plaza will be located at the main entry to the office lobby, including a water feature and multiple seating options, and the 7,500-square-foot rooftop terrace will offer 360° views.

A custom aluminium and glass curtain wall façade creates a floor-to-ceiling window line, bringing light to every inch of the building. The curtain wall includes View Smart Windows, a dynamic electrochromic material that can change tint between clear and dark on demand to control the amount of light and heat that enters the building. Among the benefits are reduced energy consumption, reduced peak load and HVAC equipment downsizing, elimination of blinds and shades providing unobstructed views and an increase in natural daylight, and improved occupant comfort and productivity. Additional sustainable features will include advanced mechanical systems, secure bicycle storage, electric vehicle charging stations, and bio-retention basins on the roof terrace. The project is designed to LEED Platinum standards.
