Balfour Beatty is currently providing construction services for the modernization of the Rinconada water treatment plant.

Completed in 1967, the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant is the second-largest of the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s plants – but it’s also the oldest. The plant can currently deliver up to 80 million gallons of water each day for residential and commercial users in the West Valley.

However, major repairs and updates were required at the 58-year-old plant to replace and upgrade the existing facilities and overhaul the treatment process to ensure continued clean water sources for the cities of Santa Clara, Campbell, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View and Los Altos and the towns of Los Gatos and Los Altos Hills.

As the general contractor, Balfour Beatty is completing the large-scale modernization of the facility to overhaul the water treatment process to secure the plant's reliability as a drinking water provider.

Balfour Beatty is replacing or upgrading all major plant components to increase Rinconada's treatment capacity to 100 MGD. This project will help the water district meet increasingly stringent standards for water quality, seismic stability and safety. The work is scheduled for completion in 2019.
