Balfour Beatty completed this 12,602-square-foot build-out of a healthcare facility for the federally qualified health center and nonprofit organization, Mary’s Center. The site, formerly Mamie D. Lee Public School, is located in the Fort Totten neighborhood of Washington, D.C., just minutes from the Red, Yellow and Green Metro lines. The facility is expected to serve approximately 15,000 patients per year.
The space is being operated in partnership with Briya Public Charter School and Bridges Public Charter School to provide health care, education and social services for families in the D.C. area. The new facility, designed by Gensler and WSP+CCRD, promotes Mary’s Center’s Social Change Model on-site, a holistic, multi-pronged approach to helping individuals and families. Mary’s Center has 34 rooms in total including 10-rooms for medical examinations and seven rooms for social and mental health services. The space also includes rooms for nutritional education, social services and seven dental chairs that support increased services for pediatric and general dentistry.
