The Dowd Student Center included the renovation of the existing Cannon Library and construction of a connecting steel structure to provide a new dining hall experience for the elementary and high school students on the Charlotte Country Day campus. The existing library was demolished to existing structure to provide a new dining area for students, separated by level for the grades. A full catering kitchen was installed in the lower level of the building with a service elevator to deliver food to the new serveries for the elementary and high school students on each level. In addition to the cafeteria function of the building, a new campus store and facility receiving area was constructed to provide an updated and engaging store for students and parents, as well as a dedicated dock and receiving which previously did not exist on campus.
