      President, Mid-Atlantic
      Relentless Ally since 1987

      As President of Balfour Beatty Mid-Atlantic, Mike provides oversight for all division projects, leveraging an impressive 42 years of experience, a focus on operational excellence, and experience maintaining quality, budget and schedule on a large scale. Mike joined Balfour Beatty in 1987 as project engineer and has risen through the ranks to project executive, vice president of operations and now president, Mid-Atlantic. During his career, he has overseen the construction of monumental projects, including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Campus East Headquarters, Capitol Crossing and National Museum of the Marine Corps.

    • David Laib

      Executive Vice President
      Relentless Ally since 2004

      David Laib has more than four decades of experience and serves as executive vice president for the Mid-Atlantic team, focusing on preconstruction, business development and project execution efforts. David has been a member of the Balfour Beatty team since 2004 where he started as a vice president of operations and business unit leader and has provided executive oversight on many high-profile projects in the healthcare, government, corporate office, hospitality, higher education and residential markets. Prior to joining Balfour Beatty, David held senior management and leadership positions with several national and regional construction management and general contracting firms. David is a registered professional engineer and a retired captain in the Civil Engineer Corps, Navy Reserve.

    • Matt Dye

      Senior Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 1983

      With almost four decades of construction experience with Balfour Beatty, Matt has led many successful GSA, Department of the Navy, Army Corps of Engineers, and United States Marine Corps projects for the company including the National Museum of the Marine Corps and the National Science Foundation Headquarters, as well as private office building work. As senior vice president of operations in the Mid-Atlantic, he provides executive leadership on projects from cradle-to-grave. Matt joined Balfour Beatty in 1983 as an estimator in the preconstruction department before heading into the field as a contractor quality control manager and climbing the leadership ladder. Matt has established himself as a dedicated, detailed, caring, committed, and focused professional. He has earned repeat clients and numerous unsolicited reference letters. 

    • Richard Ryan

      Senior Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 2001

      As senior vice president of operations for Balfour Beatty’s Mid-Atlantic team, Richard has provided executive leadership oversight for some of the company’s largest federal and healthcare sector projects to date, including Penn Medicine’s new Pavilion in Philadelphia, PA; the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center expansion and renovation, as well as the National Institutes of Health – Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center in Bethesda, MD. With almost four decades of construction industry experience, Richard has an unsurpassed understanding of how to successfully manage and deliver large-scale, complex projects and is an outstanding champion for safety and progressive project delivery models including integrated project delivery. 

    • Anna-Lisa Brown

      Vice President, Human Resources
      Relentless Ally since 2014

      As vice president of human resources, Anna-Lisa leverages her 20+ years of human resources experience, providing multifaceted insight to a variety of national human resources programs, policies and practices that enhance the employee experience, promote company culture, and help grow the organization. She is a champion for attracting and retaining the finest people in the industry through robust intern programming, recruiting, employee engagement and recognition; promoting an inclusive environment where everyone can excel; and is a leader of employee affinity group, Connecting Women's Mid-Atlantic chapter. Anna-Lisa is an active member of ABC Metro Washington’s HR Peer Group, SHRM, CREW Northern Virginia, and WBC. Anna-Lisa previously served as director of human resources for another large international contractor.

    • Sean Graham

      Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 2004

      Sean has 17 years of construction industry experience with Balfour Beatty where he has contributed to some of the Mid-Atlantic team’s premier projects. He rose through the ranks on projects including 220 Twentieth Street, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, The Bartlett and The Foundry to his current role as vice president of operations, overseeing the success of multiple large Mid-Atlantic projects including the 982,000-square-foot mixed-use Carlyle Crossing. Sean has demonstrated an innate ability to lead, solve problems quickly and build solid relationships with clients. He was the recipient of Balfour Beatty’s 2016 Mid-Atlantic Relentless Ally Award in recognition of this dedication to client service and operational excellence.

    • George Kreis

      Vice President, Business Development
      Relentless Ally since 2017

      In his role as vice president of business development, George leverages an expansive network and almost four decades of Washington D.C.-area experience and knowledge. He also oversees the success of the Mid-Atlantic’s special projects group, focusing on the unique characteristics of projects ranging from $100,000 to $20M, as well as some of the team's large key opportunities. He is passionate about creating and strengthening relationships with clients and design professionals, staying engaged throughout a project’s life cycle and ensuring client satisfaction. Prior to joining Balfour Beatty, George served in senior management positions at other prominent construction firms.

    • Bevan Mace, Ph.D.

      Vice President, Business Acquisition
      Relentless Ally since 2001

      Bevan has spent his entire 21-year career with Balfour Beatty and currently serves as vice president of business acquisition for public and alternative delivery projects in addition to providing leadership to our marketing, virtual design and construction and training teams. Bevan has served in various operations roles for large and unique construction projects including the NIH Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center, Air Force Memorial and Utah Data Center. Bevan also spent seven years in a national operations role cultivating operational excellence, lean thinking and best practices with teams across the country. Bevan is a regular industry speaker and a member of the board of directors for the Lean Construction Institute; he was honored to receive its Chairman’s Award in 2017.

    • Art Malacarne

      Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 1999

      Art brings more than 24 years of construction experience to his role as vice president of operations, and is currently overseeing the success of the District Wharf Phase 2 garage and office buildings. His career has focused on operational excellence in a variety of vertical markets including corporate office, education, residential and mixed-use. Art is a team player; his collaborative mindset was recognized with an NGA Campus East “Star Partner Award” for his extraordinary efforts in support of the project’s “One Team” partnership mission and goals.

    • Rebecca Nordby

      Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 1997

      Rebecca has been with Balfour Beatty for her entire 25-year career and has established herself as a key leader in the success of multiple large and complex local projects. Most notably, she is currently overseeing the success of the District Wharf Phase 2 garage and office buildings, led the Capitol Crossing mega-project that created three new city blocks built above an interstate highway in the District, and previously managed the first phase of the high profile U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Rebecca has a reputation for technical excellence, client service and an ability to manage highly complex projects.

    • Dan Novack

      Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 2000

      Dan has spent his entire 21-year career with Balfour Beatty. In addition to his 15+ years of operations expertise, his well-rounded experience includes many years overseeing Balfour Beatty’s purchasing and preconstruction efforts, leading a department that covers estimating, purchasing, small business, community relations, client expectations and more. Dan is known for building and managing high-performing teams with an emphasis on open communication, and he values the importance of developing new relationships and nurturing those of long standing. His experience includes many high-profile projects, including the NGA Campus East Headquarters, U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, Dulles Airport West ATS Station and 15 Gate Expansion and 1700 New York Avenue.

    • Alex Palacios

      Vice President, Operations
      Relentless Ally since 1998

      Alex has 32 years of experience and a portfolio including many first-class Washington, D.C. office buildings such as the new National Science Foundation Headquarters, NPR Headquarters, Station Place – Building 3, and 1700 New York Avenue. Alex joined Balfour Beatty in 1998 as a project manager and has expanded his role with increasing responsibility over the years. In 2015, Alex was promoted to vice president of operations for the company’s Mid-Atlantic team, providing executive leadership on projects like the 2100 Penn office building. Consistently a top performer, Alex achieves operational excellence at the highest level. He is a champion for Balfour Beatty’s Latin@ employee affinity group SOMOS, embodies Balfour Beatty Spirit!, and is passionate about supporting the growth of young professionals in the company.

    • Bob Schrider

      Vice President, Preconstruction
      Relentless Ally since 1993

      Bob brings over 38 years of construction experience to his role as vice president of preconstruction. In this role he manages a department of 20+ professionals, with responsibilities include estimating, purchasing and small/disadvantaged business participation for the Mid-Atlantic operations. He works as a team member with the client, designer and Balfour Beatty operations staff, from pursuit through preconstruction and project completion, and is constantly searching for cost-effective means to meet or exceed the client’s goals and set projects up for success. Bob joined Balfour Beatty in 1993 as a chief estimator and has contributed to numerous landmark projects over the years including Capitol Crossing and NPR’s new headquarters.

    • Jason C. Tomasulo

      Vice President, Legal
      Relentless Ally since 2016

      As vice president and chief legal officer for the Mid-Atlantic operations, Jason is a strategic business partner to the leadership team, advising on legal matters and managing risk, transactions and compliance. He has a passion for construction law and nearly 25 years of experience, including contract negotiation, project counseling, and dispute resolution. Jason began his legal career in private practice in Washington, D.C., relocated to the Philadelphia area where he served as general counsel for a large privately owned regional general contractor, then returned to private practice. He has represented general contractors, owners, developers, subcontractors, and sureties. Jason returned to the D.C. area to join Balfour Beatty in 2016. Jason received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School. He is licensed to practice in Virginia, D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania.
