In addition to leading the estimating and preconstruction efforts for our Charlotte team, Annie is heavily involved with the pursuit process, providing guidance to the team on delivering the best solutions.

      Bill Lorenzo leads our project solutions team, which includes preconstruction, design integration, marketing and virtual design and construction. With two decades of experience, Bill has worked across all markets and project delivery types to be recognized as an expert in developing preconstruction approaches for complex projects. 

    • Casey Thompson

      As controller for Balfour Beatty’s operations, Casey is responsible for the accounting and budgetary oversight of the construction business for the Carolinas and Georgia. Casey has been a valued member of our team since 2014. A Georgia native, Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts in finance from the University of West Georgia.

      Vice President, Safety Health and Environmental

      In his role, Chris Diaz has overseen safety for many projects in theming, medical, residential, commercial, corrections, hospitality, education, heavy industrial, fuel distribution and co-generation power plants. He is a member of the Common Ground Alliance and leading an Industry-wide safety orientation and certificate program.

      As vice president of operations, David is responsible for providing operations leadership across all business units while maintaining a Relentless Ally focus on exceeding customer expectations. With nearly three decades of experience, David is a well-established leader with expertise in public and private sectors.

      As Vice President of Operations Greg brings twenty years of experience to his role. Greg has served a variety of clients on projects ranging from tenant upfits to construction of mission-critical facilities. Greg’s expertise allows him to work within all facets of the construction process, including procurement, preconstruction, construction and close-out.

      As the marketing director, Haley oversees business acquisition, marketing and communications, future business planning and opportunity development for the Southeast region. A proud recipient of the 2018 H. Gordon Wyllie, MCR, Young Leader of the Year award and a Bridges to Prosperity alum, Haley personifies the spirit of a multi-faceted leader. She holds a Masters of Business Administration from Belmont University.

    • Hunt Werner

      Hunt has spent his entire career serving as a Relentless Ally for Balfour Beatty and our clients. His ability to cultivate and connect relationships across the marketplace have been the cornerstone for the success he has led our teams to. Hunt holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.

      As Carolinas vice president and commercial business unit leader, Jeff provides a thorough understanding of all phases of the construction process from estimating, preconstruction, procurement, contracting and scheduling. He has a deep resume of large projects throughout the Southeast and significant experience solving clients’ LEED and small/disadvantaged business goals.

      As senior vice president and chief legal officer for the company's Southeast operations, John provides executive leadership, and oversees risk mitigation and compliance for our teams in Carolinas and Georgia. An ardent leader with more than two decades of experience, John is the National Chair of the Legal Committee for the Construction Management Association of America.

      John has spent his entire career as a committed and consistent teammate with Balfour Beatty and a trusted partner to our clients John’s portfolio encompasses a variety of markets, from healthcare to education, hospitality to commercial. John holds a degree in Industrial Construction Technology from Appalachian State University.

      Business Development Director, Martin Welton, is a Charlotte native with a natural connection to the heart and soul of the Queen City. Martin holds over two decades of real estate experience and is a seasoned business developer with success in connecting prospective and current clients with solutions and results. Martin is responsible for constructing effective relationships with existing and potential owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. Martin attended Charlotte Country Day School and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

      Mike has established himself as one of the Carolina’s most trusted builders and has cultivated one of the strongest client followings in the business. Mike has 20+ years of industry experience and has spent the last decade with Balfour Beatty writing the book on customer service.

      As vice president of human resources, Mila Smith is a trusted advisor in terms of talent management, employee relations, change management and coaching. As a business partner and member of the local leadership team, Mila works with operations to develop strategies to build talented teams and create a best place to work culture. Mila supports national business initiatives including performance management, diversity & inclusion and HRIS system implementation.

      As president of our Southeast operations, Scott Skidelsky is responsible for executive oversight, project acquisition and business growth. Scott has spent more than two decades in the construction industry in a wide variety of leadership positions, serving clients across the United States throughout his career. In addition, Scott is a Building Design + Construction “Forty Under 40” alumni.

Taylor has spent his entire career with Balfour Beatty with a primary focus on serving corporate interior clients. He holds a degree in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University.
