    John Harris earns spot on ENR Southeast’s Top 20 Under 40 list

    ORLANDO – John Harris, senior vice president and business unit leader for Balfour Beatty Construction, has been named to the “Top 20 Under 40” list by Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southeast magazine. The annual “20 Under 40” program recognizes those visionaries and trailblazers in the construction industry who have built extraordinary portfolios in just a few short years. Individuals are selected based on their professional and educational achievements, contributions to the community, as well as industry affiliations and involvement. All 20 recipients will be profiled in an upcoming issue of ENR Southeast.

    About John Harris: Since joining Balfour Beatty Construction in 1998, John has been promoted four times, serving in roles of increasing responsibility from project to operational and executive management. John has also amassed a vast and award-winning portfolio within the hospitality, healthcare, higher education, public assembly, k-12 education, transportation, and criminal justice market sectors.

    Some of John’s notable career highlights include leading high performing teams on the $150M Central Prison Medical Center Phases A&B - Raleigh, NC; $85M Harris Technology Center - Palm Bay, FL; and $175M Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Orlando - Orlando, FL.

    Among John’s most impressive accomplishments includes his role in achieving Balfour Beatty Construction’s diversity goals. John has a proven history of mentoring and capacity building among historically underutilized businesses. In 2012, he was invited to serve as a panelist at the annual conference for the National Association of State Procurement Officials regarding minority participation for state and municipal projects. Under John’s leadership, one of Orlando’s most notable projects, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, is currently on-track to achieve an impressive 39% M/WDE participation.

    John holds a degree in building construction from the University of Florida. He is a graduate of Central Florida Partnership’s Leadership Orlando Class 83 and elected board member of the Downtown Orlando Partnership. Additionally, John plays an active role in public-community service through his participation on the Orange County Public Works Advisory Board.
