Balfour Beatty US' Tony Stewart Appointed to University Child Development School Board of Trustees
August 29, 2017
SEATTLE
–
The University Child Development School (UCDS) has appointed Tony Stewart to its board of trustees. Stewart serves as vice president of business acquisition for Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company. With a mission to provide dynamic, innovative and diverse learning experiences for its students, UCDS is an independent elementary school focused on cultivating collaboration between students, teachers, parents and its board of trustees.
As a UCDS trustee, Stewart serves on the capital assets committee, a unique position on the board. The committee is tasked with strategically expanding the physical reach of the campus, buying and developing new spaces to house future students—an enterprise Stewart is uniquely suited to undertake. His background with real estate, architecture and general contracting provide exclusive perspective for this ongoing endeavor.
In addition to serving on the UCDS board, Stewart is involved in the greater Seattle community through numerous organizations, including past-presidency of Amara—a fostering and child adoption agency—and serving on the board of directors and executive committee for the Downtown Seattle Association. He strives to volunteer in various parts of his community, ranging from businesses to non-profits. Stewart’s consistent focus, though, is children, with UCDS being his latest undertaking towards impacting the lives of the next generation.
Stewart graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor of architecture, has a background as an owner’s representative and years of experience in architecture and general contracting, all of which make him a key asset to UCDS and the Howard S. Wright operations leadership team in Seattle.
