Balfour Beatty Construction Named Construction Management Firm of the Year by the Construction Management Association of America – San Diego
May 27, 2016
California team members also recognized for service and commitment to the chapter
SAN DIEGO –
Balfour Beatty Construction has been named the 2016 Construction Management Firm of the Year by the Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) San Diego Chapter. To be honored as Firm of the Year, the CMAA’s selection committee evaluated several factors, including Balfour Beatty’s local chapter involvement, number of certified construction managers working for the company, participation in local events, scope of construction management services, and overall industry contributions.
Honored during the organization’s recent annual awards gala, Balfour Beatty team members also were recognized for their expertise and industry service, including Dusan Selezan, senior virtual design and construction specialist who was honored with the President’s Special Service Award, and Michael Manneh, project engineer and LEED Green Associate, who received special recognition. Both Selezan and Manneh hold Construction Manager-In-Training (CMIT) designations as CMAA members working to attain their Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credentials.
“After reviewing the company’s achievements alongside the judging factors, the committee unanimously agreed Balfour Beatty Construction best met the criteria and is a deserving award-recipient,” said Momo Savovic, president of the CMAA’s San Diego Chapter. “Congratulations to the company and all of its dedicated construction managers who utilize the principals of the CMAA to add significant value to the entire construction process.”
Presented with the President’s Special Service Award, the honorable distinction acknowledges Selezan’s support of CMAA’s mission: to promote the profession of construction management and the use of qualified construction managers on capital projects and programs. Selezan and Manneh were both recognized for their participation and engagement as San Diego Chapter board members. Most recently, they have served on the planning committee for
CMAA’s National Conference and Trade Show
which is scheduled for October 9 - 11, 2016 at the Hilton Bayfront in San Diego. Selezan and Manneh also serve on the chapter’s scholarship committee for which they contributed to the selection and distribution of $28,000 in scholarships to local college students during the awards gala.
“We are honored to receive this recognition by our local CMAA San Diego Chapter,” said Brian Cahill, division president, Balfour Beatty Construction. “We appreciate the value that professional construction management brings to our industry and our clients.”
Balfour Beatty Construction’s California Division currently employs 12 Certified Construction Managers and 33 Construction Managers in Training. Several of the division’s projects have received local, regional and national construction management awards, including the most recent award for
Southwestern College’s Devore Stadium Improvement Project
which earned “Project of the Year” in the Buildings/New Construction category from CMAA’s San Diego Chapter.
