Balfour Beatty Construction Honored as Contractor of the Year by the American Institute of Architects Orlando
May 14, 2015
ORLANDO – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Orlando recently honored Balfour Beatty Construction with its 2015 Contractor of the Year award at their annual Design Awards Gala held at the Country Club of Orlando. This award recognizes a company or firm in Florida that has exemplified a sincere and genuine interest in effecting outstanding craftsmanship and workmanship in the performance of work.
Balfour Beatty Construction was nominated by HKS Architects, Inc. for the AIA award. Over the past 30 years, Balfour Beatty Construction and HKS have served together as relentless allies for owners on more than 90 projects across the United States, including the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts project in downtown Orlando that opened to rave reviews in November 2014. The nomination punctuates this longstanding and successful relationship.
“This award, and the respect from the AIA that it represents, is an incredible honor,” said Sean DeMartino, president of Balfour Beatty Construction’s Florida Division. “Through our partnership with HKS, we were able to deliver a world-class performing arts center that has already cemented its place as a cultural icon in Orlando. We take tremendous pride in this award, which is a distinctive acknowledgement from the greater architecture community.”
Three additional Balfour Beatty Construction projects that were recognized during the AIA Orlando gala program include the Harris Technology Center in Palm Bay, Fla., the Online Labels Headquarters Building Renovation in Sanford, Fla. and Tradition Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
