October 29, 2015
DALLAS – Balfour Beatty Construction and its BARC joint venture partners, including Azteca Enterprises, H.J. Russell & Company, and CARCON Industries, have been honored with two prestigious project awards for the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Terminal A Phase II Renovation and Improvement Program.
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) recognized the project with a National Best Project Achievement Award in the “Infrastructure less than $150 Million” category and ENR Texas & Louisiana gave a nod to the project with a Best Project Award in the “Airports/Transit” category. Formed in 1982
CMAA
has 30 regional chapters and is North America’s only organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of professional Construction and Program Management. ENR Texas & Louisiana is a leading trade magazine dedicated to honoring the best construction projects across the state of Texas.
“Each team member devoted themselves to this project, which allowed us to broaden the definition of excellence to include lasting relationships, a solutions based mindset and relentless dedication to a collective goal,” said Karl Joeris, vice president at Balfour Beatty Construction. “The efforts of everyone involved have culminated in a world-class airport that will deliver the ultimate passenger experience for generations of travelers.”
CMAA received more than 60 entries from which 13 projects were chosen for national recognition. The project team was in attendance at the Hilton Orlando on October 13 to receive the award. ENR Texas & Louisiana received more than 100 entries from which 41 projects earned top nods from this foremost A/E/C industry publication. The award ceremony will take place on December 8 in Houston.
In June 2015, the $140 million, 400,000-square-foot DFW Airport Terminal A Phase II also received a TEXO Distinguished Building Award in the “Over $75 Million” category.
TEXO
is the largest commercial contractors association in Texas and one of the largest affiliated with the national Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). TEXO received over 70 submissions competing for 27 building and specialty categories. The winning submissions will be featured at the annual association gala on Thursday, December 3 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, which also is a Balfour Beatty Construction project (
