    Balfour Beatty Awarded $150 Million to Deliver ZOM Living’s Hazel & Azure at National Landing Multifamily Residential Facility

    ARLINGTON –  Balfour Beatty has been selected to deliver the $150 million Hazel & Azure at National Landing multifamily residential facility on behalf of the company’s repeat-client, ZOM Living. Located in Arlington, Virginia, the new apartment community will provide additional housing to meet the growing residential demand in the prominent National Landing neighborhood.

    Balfour Beatty will serve as construction manager at-risk for the new development which will comprise of two cohesive mixed-use buildings standing at 14-stories. The 527,000-square-foot project will include 492 apartment units, 6,800-square-feet of ground-floor retail space, an extension of the Potomac Yards Central Park, amenity and retail spaces and a two-level, 388-space parking garage.

    The new multifamily facility will also include rich brick material to provide warmth and depth to the buildings’ façade and an integrated landscape design allowing residents and visitors to enjoy the natural environment of the park. The design of the ground level includes a mixture of public and private programs, giving the site a diverse sense of activity and vibrancy.

    ZOM Living and Balfour Beatty are long-standing partners, successfully constructing several multifamily units across the U.S. Recently, the company’s Mid-Atlantic operations delivered Maizon Bethesda, a luxury midrise apartment building in the Bethesda Urban District. The partnership has also successfully delivered notable projects such as Solitair Brickell, a luxury residential tower in Miami which was awarded the Eagle Award and Project of the Year Award by Associated Builders and Contractors’ Florida chapter, and the Atelier, a 41-story high-rise in Dallas’ Arts District.

    Balfour Beatty will leverage its nationwide operations to collaborate on the successful delivery of Hazel National Landing and utilize the latest technology and innovations such as OpenSpace and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to capture and catalog jobsite images throughout the lifespan of the project.

    Hazel & Azure at National Landing will be located at 3030 and 3130 Potomac Avenue near the future site of Amazon’s HQ2. Construction will be underway in the beginning of 2022 and scheduled for delivery in Summer 2024. At its peak, the project will employ approximately 1,000 onsite workers.
