Balfour Beatty Partners with Make-A-Wish® Georgia
July 28, 2021
Our Atlanta teammates recently donated their time and building skills to help make a difference for a young girl and her family. Working alongside Make-A-Wish® Georgia, the team built a dream playground for four-year-old Phoebe from Marietta, Georgia.
Phoebe, who has a Wilms tumor and was born with no irises, has limited sight and mobility challenges. Due to her condition, she is largely limited to her home base. Her one wish was to have a playground to play on as she works with her doctors to improve both her mobility and sensory abilities.
“It was our goal to help Phoebe learn and grow as safely as possible on her new playground,” shares Carissa Gardner, senior human resources administrator. “We hope that she can use this new playground to swing, climb and slide to assist with her development.”
The team built Phoebe’s large and bright playground, which includes two cool forts, swings, a climbing ladder, a cross-over bridge, a winding big green slide and rubber mulch for safety. The materials for the fort were provided by the Pelfrey Tree Company.
