Visions of Hope
October 30, 2018
Balfour Beatty was proud to sponsor the Anchor Center for Blind Children’s annual fundraising event, Sunset in the Country. The event was so successful that it achieved a record breaking net profit – exceeding 20+ prior years. Of the almost 500 guests, there were over 100 first time attendees, including six Denver-based Balfour Beatty employees and their spouses.
“Thank you for supporting this Colorado non-profit to which I donate much of my afterhours time serving on their Board of Directors,” says Sherry Stripling, director of talent management for Balfour Beatty US Civils.
These funds will go a long way in serving young children and families dealing with visual impairment. The Anchor Center is beginning a new outreach and research program focused on identifying premature babies who have Cortical Visual Impairment. By identifying them while still in the hospital, teachers of the visually impaired on the Anchor Center staff will not only be able to help them and their families learn to ‘see life differently’ but will also provide critical interventions and therapies that may help to rebuild damaged neural networks – actually improving vision over time.
The Anchor Center plays such a critical role in serving the visually impaired that many families move to Colorado to receive its lifechanging services. To learn more about this incredible organization, visit: https://anchorcenter.org/.
