Portland Business Journal: Portland's next office tower breaks ground this week
June 21, 2016
By Jon Bell
A quiet downtown Portland block is about to be a lot less so.
On Friday, BPM Real Estate Group, the developer behind the recently completed Pearl West office building, will break ground on its next project, Broadway Tower, a 19-story office and hotel tower. Located on a property owned by the Goodman family at the corner of Southwest Broadway and Columbia, the 430,000-square-foot building will include 175,000 square feet of office space, 247 underground parking spaces and a 180-room Radisson RED hotel.
Minnesota-based Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group will manage the hotel portion of the project, which will occupy the lower eight floors. The office portion will start on the ninth floor. Outdoor patios will be included on the top three floors.
During a formal groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning at 11:30, BPM CEO Walter Bowen will make a few remarks, as will Carlson Rezidor's chief operating officer, Javier Rosenberg.
Work will kick off this week and is expected to wrap up in the third quarter of 2018. GBD Architects designed the tower, and Howard S. Wright Construction is the contractor.
