Balfour Beatty Awarded 2019 Los Angeles Corporate Community Service Award

The Los Angeles Sustainability Coalition (LASC) recently honored Balfour Beatty with the 2019 Los Angeles Corporate Community Service Award for raising over $51,000 in scholarships for inner city kids, $100,000 in scholarships for the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce, and for donating bikes and toys to over 2,000 kids in the 9th Council District and 1,000 bikes in the 10th Council District in the City of Los Angeles.
The award was presented to Balfour Beatty at LASC’s 5th Annual Leadership Awards Dinner honoring public agency executives, leaders and organizations who display outstanding service and leadership in the Los Angeles community. Hosted by the master of ceremonies Council Member Curren D. Price Jr., 9th District, highlights from the evening included Shirley Choate, who received one of the two Special Lifetime Achievement Awards, speaking about her work at Caltrans District 7, as well LA City Council President representing the 10th District Herb J. Wesson Jr., who spoke about three decades of life as a public representative.
Joe Reed, vice president of alternative delivery for Balfour Beatty, accepted the award on behalf of Balfour Beatty and expressed gratitude for LASC’s recognition.
“It is an honor for to be recognized for this award, as we are committed to making a positive difference in the communities we work and live,” Joe says.
Other awardees include the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority who was recognized for the 2019 Los Angeles Sustainability Public Agency of The Year Award, and Destination Enterprises was honored with the 2019 Los Angeles Sustainability Small Business of The Year Award.
