Atlanta Business Chronicle: Builder selected for Atlanta’s ‘tallest residential tower’
June 02, 2016
The Related Group has selected Balfour Beatty Construction Inc. to build its planned luxury, mixed-use residential tower in Midtown Atlanta.
The 39-story tower planned for West Peachtree and 14th Street will become the tallest residential tower project built in Atlanta since 2009, The Related Group said in a prepared statement.
The building will include 390 luxury apartments with 6,500 square feet of retail space. The property will feature a pool terrace with clubroom amenities and a fire pit terrace on the 39th floor.
“Ideally situated in the gateway to Atlanta’s Arts District, Piedmont Park and the Midtown business district, residents will also enjoy convenient access to Whole Foods Market’s planned pub, microbrewery and cooking school, in addition to a variety of neighborhood restaurants,” The Related Group said.
Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported in March 2015 that Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market Inc. (NASDAQ: WFM) was eyeing the project for its largest Atlanta store to date. In June 2015, preliminary plans were presented for the new grocery store.
The Related Group said the building’s window wall system and various mechanical systems will be manufactured off-site in order to maximize efficiency and to manage construction costs of its new tower.
Designed by architecture firm Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart, the project is scheduled for final completion in first quarter 2018.
