2021 C.A.S.H. Conference
July 28, 2021
For over 10 years, Balfour Beatty has been honored to sponsor and attend the annual Coalition for Adequate School Housing (C.A.S.H.) Conference, and this year was no different. The passion for creating world-class education manifested in 119-degree heat of the beautiful Palm Springs Desert.
More than 1,000 distinguished school facility professionals, architects, construction managers, sponsors and partners came together to discuss unique trends and innovations in the construction of education facilities.
From golfing, tradeshows and networking to workshops, education sessions and social events, it was another successful conference! Balfour Beatty’s Sr. Vice President of Education, Gil Fullen (cohort 6), and Director of Sacramento, Kyle Frandsen (cohort 8), hosted mini-workshops and panels throughout the three-day conference.
Amidst a packed room for the panel, “Breaking News-Brace for Impact,” Gil both moderated and provided expertise about the current state of the education market as it relates to industry trends in project procurement, material escalation and recommendations on how to best work through current market conditions. He was joined by our partners: David Miranda, Long Beach USD’s Executive Facilities Director; David Eaves, LPA’s Managing Director; Glenn Gould, Partner with Orbach Huff Suarez & Henderson LLP, and Marty Glaske, Gafcon’s Sr. Vice President.
Later in the conference, Kyle Frandsen, held the mini-workshop, “Synergy for Zero Net Energy (ZNE).” The room was filled with excitement as he discussed how to successfully plan and execute Zero Net Energy projects for schools and the many associated benefits for districts and communities alike. This mini-workshop was highly interactive as the group shared project case studies, lessons learned and inspiring discussions about upcoming Zero Net Energy project opportunities.
As a top ranked education builder throughout California, Balfour Beatty is proud to be a longstanding supporter of the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (C.A.S.H.) Conference and to be active in C.A.S.H. year-round with several C.A.S.H. Academy graduates.
Beginning with Gil Fullen in cohort 6, Balfour Beatty is proud to have six graduates including Kyle Frandsen, cohort 8 and, our most recent graduate, Sr. Project Manager, Arnold Arsenault, in Cohort 10.
Gil also served on the C.A.S.H. Legislation Committee and is now in his second term of Core Faculty for the C.A.S.H. School Facilities Leadership Academy (CSFLA) – which is midway through Cohort 11 with our newest academy participant, Project Executive, Mark Schull.
It was an exciting time sitting among the Palms and greeting faces that had long been missed during COVID. Our team is looking forward to C.A.S.H.’s 43rd Annual Conference next year and hope to see you there!
