Steve Smithgall, a 32-year industry veteran and 16-year company leader, serves as Corporate Senior Vice President for Safety, Health, and Environment for Balfour Beatty Construction. In this role, Smithgall focuses on Balfour Beatty Construction's dedication to Zero Harm, a global commitment to the highest standards in safety, and to removing risk from the environments the business creates and controls. He provides direction and leadership to loss prevention and operations teams across the nation.
Smithgall has been a part of Balfour Beatty Construction since 1997, holding a number of senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Division President in Washington, D.C. He has 32 years of experience in the construction industry and holds a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction from Virginia Tech University. He has served on numerous community and industry boards, including the Ronald McDonald House Charities Building Committee, the Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Washington Building Congress, and the Myers Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech.
