On Sunday morning, March 29th, a group of BBC employees gathered at Freedom Plaza in DC for the 2009 Scope-it-Out 5K for Colon Cancer Awareness. The Scope-it-Out run was first held in 2005 where more than 700 people ran in the inaugural race in honor of Charles A. Kraenzle. Since then the race has continued to raise awareness about colon cancer and the test that can save lives (colonoscopy). To date it has drawn in over 2,500 runners.
Although the cold and rainy weather conditions weren’t ideal for a race the BBC team showed up in high spirits ready to run for the cause. The team placed third overall. Thanks to stellar running by speed demons Greg Richards and Chris Gibson. After the race some of the team grabbed a hot breakfast to warm up after tracing through the chilly March morning.
